A letter from Marilyne

Dear Hugh

Well done on the Evening News article, I thought it read well.

I have discussed the issue with Brian Grieve in the City Development Dept and he has gone away to look at whether there are any legal impediments to allowing Zone 8 residents to park in Zone 1. As I said to you at the M/S Community Council, the officers are reluctant to change the boundaries of Zones straight away, until things have settled down, in areas such as the Grange and Greenhill, and the Thirlestane Road setts are re-laid. I can see the logic in their position!

I have from Mr Grieve three dates for a meeting with residents, either 28th or 30th of November during the day, or Wednesday 29th November, early evening. I also can make any of these dates at present. Could you please get back to me with the date and time you prefer, quite quickly if you don't mind, as diaries fill up.

May I suggest that we have a spread of residents from different streets?

Kind regards

Marilyne MacLaren

Hi, was just wondering if you could setup a mail list on the site of email address's and locations of all the people subscribed with parking problems. That way we could contact everyone directly ourselves on the progress of the complaints from a central hub rather than everyone individually, and also analyse the location of the residents with cars in each area, so we can propose plans to the council ourselves. If we can show to them a viable plan showing the location of all the residents with cars, highlight the black spots where areas are heavily conjested with lack of spaces, and how the area could be improved to accomodate them, I think we could get a lot further.

Please feel free to contact me at the following email address.

I think that Hugh's proposals - in the letter - make a lot of sense.
Zone 8 was always a difficult zone for parking but the 'spill over' to the south always absorbed the problem.
The new zone(s) to the south are the cause of the current problem. These were not created to support residents, but for revenue raising.
There are no prospect of any compensating benefits in the transport infrastructure. And zone 8 has been left in a mess. The areas to the south have been vandalised with more street furniture and this has all been done at a great cost.

This is a cynical endeavour, and the councillors should be held to account for this. If they are not responsible then who is?

asking residents to withdraw any support for Councillor Marilyne MacLaren is an answer. Action is required on behalf of residents not inaction.

once again this shows the shameless opportunism of marilynM. she banged on for years about how the council wouldn't introduce controlled parking for S marchmont. It arrives, is very popular with residents and she decides to U-turn. Not surprised but still pretty brass-necked. Looking forward to getting shot off her at the elections!

another anonymous seems to think the introduction of zone S1 was a money making ploy. The Evenin' noos may think so but residents of S marchmont (previously supported -no more it seems- by marilyn mclaren) know different.
