Gathering your anecdotes

I thought it might be good for people to record any anecdotal evidence about the parking situation being screwed up. If you can't park or have to go far away, slap a comment about it on this item.

I used to be able to park in Marchmont Crescent without any problem at all. Now, with all these changes, it's a nightmare. There seem to be more permits issued than there are parking spaces. I have to park over by Bruntsfield Links, really enjoy that now that the dark nights are here. Great....and I pay £££ for the priviledge!!!

Parking near my flat on Warrender Park Road used to be fairly easy. I was happy to pay £80 per annum to keep out 'park and ride commuters'. However, since the new S1 zone became operative, I have NEVER been able to park near to my flat, and often cannot get a place at all in zone 8. Clearly the Council have been using zone 8 as a milch cow, overselling the permits and making a mint. This was almost ok whilst we could use the derestricted zone should we not find a zone 8 spot. It would seem that the activation of zone S1 has exposed the council's overselling of zone 8 permits. With no overflow we now have over 1,000 cars chasing about 700 places. Meanwhile zone S1 has plenty of empty spaces at all times of the day, everyday. And all the pay places in zone 8 are nearly always unoccupied.
